From the Chair

From humble beginnings 38 years ago, the Brisbane Rotary Art Spectacular has matured into Queensland’s largest and most prestigious annual art exhibition. In that time, the exhibition has raised nearly $2 million for Brisbane Rotary community projects and local charities.

We are delighted to return to Central Plaza One with the 2017 exhibition will be open to the public from Monday, 15 May through to Friday, 19 May.

The Rotary Art spectacular website will again be available for online sales and there will be over 300 pieces on display.

In addition to showcasing talented artists, the exhibition provides Rotary with the opportunity to raise funds for nominated charities. This year we are continuing our support of our primary charity beneficiary is AEIOU Foundation for Children with Autism. The exhibition will also support various other charity projects of the three Rotary Clubs involved in the event. Every year the members of Brisbane High-Rise, Hamilton and Stones Corner Rotary Clubs work together to make the exhibition a success.

Planning for the exhibition is well underway. Preparing and staging the event is a year round process involving a considerable level of time, thought and commitment. A great number of people deserve thanks for their efforts. In particular, AEIOU and the organising committee have made exceptional contributions. Others working outside the committee including Rotary Club members have also been great contributors.

We also appreciate and extend our thanks to our generous sponsors. Without their support we would not raise the much needed funds for the charities mentioned above.

We welcome back our curator, Brett Lethbridge. He is an established artist and owner of Lethbridge Gallery in Paddington and is a strong support of the not-for-profit community. Brett has coordinated a number of other art shows on behalf of charity organisations.

We hope you enjoy the 2017 exhibition.
